Osama bin Laden’s son, who spent several years painting landscapes in a Normandy village, faces expulsion from France. Following social media posts that glorified terrorism, authorities prohibited him from re-entering the country.
Bruno Retailleau, the Interior Minister, announced the signing of an order that forbids Omar Bin Ladin from entering France, citing Bin Ladin’s previous deportation. The timing and destination of Bin Ladin’s deportation remain unspecified.
Retailleau stated on X that Mr. Bin Ladin, a resident of the Orne region for several years and married to a British national, made comments on his social media in 2023 that praised terrorism.
“The administrative ban prohibits Mr. Binladin from returning to France under any circumstances.”
Attempts to contact Bin Ladin for a statement were unsuccessful.
Local weekly newspaper Le Publicateur Libre reports that French authorities have taken notice of Binladin due to a social media post commemorating his father’s birthday, who was killed by U.S. forces in 2011. Reuters has yet to find the social media post in question.
