Suspect arrested for diverting Mexican aeroplane to US

On Sunday, a passenger was apprehended following an alleged attempt to redirect a domestic flight in Mexico towards the United States, as reported by Volaris airline and Mexican officials. An investigation is in progress.

A passenger attempted to forcibly redirect a flight after it left El Bajio for Tijuana, leading to an emergency landing at Guadalajara Airport. According to a statement from the airline, the individual was subsequently detained. The crew adhered to established security procedures and protocols while detaining the passengers.

The Federal Civil Aviation Agency has confirmed that the National Guard has been notified, although the exact nature of their involvement is still uncertain. Mexico’s federal Department of Security and Volaris for a response but has yet to receive a reply.

Volaris has confirmed that all passengers and crew members are safe. The airline expressed regret over the inconvenience caused, emphasising that the safety of its passengers and crew continues to be its foremost priority.

After a passenger was arrested in Guadalajara, the airline reported that the flight proceeded to Tijuana without any additional incidents.
